Personality & Traits
General Overview | She is Vulcan, and yet has spent the majority of her life amongst aliens...particularly other Marines leading to some interesting personalized quirks that can make people do a double take. Still attempts nightly meditation, but is plagued by past traumas. Has no issue pulling the trigger, as it were. Surak's dogma no longer holds an iron-grip on her thinking or how she acts around others. Skirts being labelled V'tosh ka'tur for not having a tight hold over her emotions -- oftentimes she just keeps the powerful feelings to herself. She's not adverse to 'taking things to the treeline," if someone needs a more physical form of correction. Her training has made her resourceful, and her eyes often have a far-away quality to them. Always assessing - friend or foe, ally or target. Definitely not comfortable outside of her small group of like-minded people she has allowed into her 'circle of trust.' |

Personal History | Born in Ra’al, Vulcan in 2327. Mother / Father transferred to the Federation outpost on Setlik III for work when Iria was a young girl. Uneventful childhood. The Cardassians attacked in 2347, killing 100 civilians (her parents among the casualties) when Iria was a Vulcan version of a teenager, in what came to be known as the “Setlik III massacre.” The USS Rutledge was the first federation starship to respond although they were hours too late to prevent the deaths. A detachment of special forces Marines dispatched to the Federation outpost from the Rutledge to dispatch any remaining Cardiassians and to search for any survivors. 2nd Lieutenant Adam Carson was the first to breach the already kicked-in door to the home of a Vulcan family. He was not expecting what was found inside. A young Vulcan woman covered in Cardassian blood fighting for her life. Carson shot the one Cardassian circling around her as she lunged at the sole fighter and mortally wounded him. That the young woman would then turn on Carson was a surprise, as she suddenly slashed at him with a kitchen knife with a warcry worthy of a Klingon. Carson fought her only to gain control, and once he had her pinned against him and the weapon was taken out of play, he saw that there were a total of four dead Cardassian soldiers in the space along with the two adult Vulcans…her parents. There was just something about this young woman and he felt called to help her. Upon finding that she had no next-of-kin, Carson took Iria in, and she traveled with him and his team, learning all sorts of interesting skills and information by a bunch of experience-hardened operators. The marine lieutenant’s kindness gave her a direction for her life. Although a few weeks prior to the attack, Iria knew she was going to apply to the Vulcan Science academy and become a scientist. However, after her parents’ death, and being amongst Lieutenant Carson and his fellow marines, the plan had changed. Although pacifism was a cornerstone of Surak’s teachings, it was not logical to be helpless. In her terror she had tapped into primal instincts in order to save her own life. That act changed her. The ‘damage’ could not be undone. Given her feelings of inadequacy regarding acting in a manner completely at odds with Surak’s dogma, Iria felt that a satisfying life on Vulcan would be impossible. Given that some stepped up to fight to protect the many, why not her? |
